As I stood in my kitchen one day last week scrolling through Facebook killing a little time while waiting for the popcorn in the microwave to get to the point of it’s either ‘I think it might be done’ or ‘dang, burnt again!’ I came to a post from a motivational dude (David Goggins) that I follow with an interesting challenge to his followers…do push ups for each time you walk through a doorway. Hmmmmm….that could be fun, right? I usually start my day each morning with 30 push ups to get my blood pumpin for the day anyway, so how bad can this be? After walking through a half dozen doorways I took it upon myself to ‘tweak’ the challenge a smidge…each time I walked into a room through a doorway while at work, I would drop and do 5 push ups. Doesn’t sound like much does it? The first day I did 130 push ups, the second day I got a little smarter and kept my butt in my seat a little more, but still did 115. In the past 5 days I’m done exactly 600 push ups, averaging 120 each day during my work day. So here’s my challenge to you…try it. It can be at work, at home, all day everyday if you choose. David Goggins suggested 10 push ups for each doorway, but tweak it to whatever you think you can do. Side note…be prepared for your chest, shoulders and triceps to be a little sore after a couple days. Good luck and stay positive…you can do it!
