The film earned $5,014 per theatre, the best of any wide release, according to The Wall Street Journal. SOUL SUFER is an inspirational film is based on the true life story of surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost an arm to a shark attack. Carrie plays Hamilton's youth minister. The film received an A-plus rating from CinemaScore, a polling organization that asks viewers to assign a letter grade to new movies in order to project the projects' earnings.
