In Louisiana yesterday, Newt Gingrich was courting conservative voters by attacking President Obama's energy policies and the Chevy Volt by saying "you can't put a gun rack" in the electric car.
Later in his speech, Gingrich admitted that someone challenged him on that claim by posting a video on YouTube of him building a rack for his Volt. Not one to back down, Gingrich allowed that you could fit a gun rack in the vehicle, but you wouldn't have room for the animal you kill on your hunting excursion.
General Motors took Gingrich to task last month for his "gun rack on a Volt" statement, writing on their blog. "That's like saying, 'You can't put training wheels on a Harley.' Actually, you can. But the real question is, 'Why would you?'"
