DEER CRASHES STORE
An 11-year-old girl was still recovering yesterday after suffering a slight concussion, bruises and shock after she was run over by a deer inside a Dacula, Georgia convenience store over the weekend.
Samantha Irons and her eight-year-old brother, Sebastian, were in a BP gas station's mini-mart when a deer crashed through the glass and steamrolled into her, knocking her to the ground. Samantha didn't know what hit her.
The clerk at the store called 911 after seeing Samantha covered with blood, but it turned out it was the deer's blood, not Samantha's.

Taylor Goes On Date For A Cause!

Taylor Swift has a date for the ACM Awards -- 18-year-old Kevin McGuire has said yes to her invitation. Philadelphia's Eyewitness News was in the hospital room when he got the invitation and voiced his reply. Kevin, who had invited Taylor to his senior prom, has leukemia -- and his big worry is that he won't look that great on the red carpet. But he says he'll be there because "I have cancer, cancer doesn't have me.

NEW X-FACTOR JUDGE???

LeAnn Rimes is being considered for a new role as one of the judges on Fox's The X Factor. According to Entertainment Weekly she is being considered because of her country music sensibilities, her background with reality competition shows -- she was a contestant on Star Search and a host of Nashville Star -- and she would provide a female perspective to offset the show's other judges -- Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.

DAYTONA 500 WEEKEND BABY!!!

Country music and stock-car racing go together like peanut butter and jelly. Each week, we'll bring you a NASCAR preview featuring one of your favorite country artists.

The official NASCAR Sprint Cup Series kicks off Sunday with the Daytona 500, and race aficionados know that this early in the season, anything could happen. Our guest commentators this week are Rascal Flatts. The guys make beautiful harmonies on stage, but they have differing opinions on who will take the checkered flag at the famed tri-oval. Jay DeMarcus is going with Danica Patrick, Gary LeVox thinks Kevin Harvick will win, and Joe Don Rooney is hoping for a comeback for Jeff Gordon.

Some storylines to watch for on Sunday:

  • All eyes will be on Carl Edwards who had an amazing 2011 season and has won the pole.
  • Focus will also be on Danica Patrick, who left Indy racing to become a full-time NASCAR driver.
  • There are also high hopes for Jeff Gordon, who rolled his number-24 Chevy after bumping Kyle Busch in the Budweiser Shootout last weekend. Gordon walked away from the wreckage unscathed.

YOU'RE THE ONE THAT I WANT ... TO KILL

A Georgia man came up with a unique idea about how to "Grease" his path from the big house to the looney bin -- by telling cops he committed a murder on the orders of an angel that looked like Olivia Newton John!

Prosecutors aren't so sure about the divine guidance, saying that Hemy Neuman killed the husband of a co-worker because he was obsessed with her and even believed he was the father of her kids.

Neuman also alleges he was commanded by a demon who sounded like Barry White.

Neuman faces life in prison without parole if convicted. He'd be turned over to the state mental health system if found not guilty.

PUTTING THE "P" IN STUPID

You can safely say that Michael Harper is no whiz kid -- after the British man put himself in the hospital with third-degree burns by causing an explosion when he urinated on a transformer during a robbery attempt.

Harper and an accomplice had broken into a power plant to steal copper wiring, which they planned to sell in order to buy heroin. But part way through the process, Harper felt a wee bit of urgency and proceeded to relieve himself onto exposed electrical wires -- resulting in a fireball that caused disfiguring burns to his privates.

It's safe to assume he's not feeling like number one right about now.

She Took A CRACK at it

A Georgia woman who was in the process of being busted for assault tried to ensure her right to remain silent -- by asking if she could shove a crack pipe in her mouth!

Essie May Jones was suspected of stabbing a male companion in a fight involving several people, so cops showed up to haul her off. While she didn't resist, she asked the arresting officer if she could smoke some of her crack stash first, since she wouldn't be allowed to smoke it behind bars.

The deputy declined the request, but added possession of a controlled substance to her list of charges.

MIRANDA LAMBERT: Brown Bites Back

R&B star Chris Brown retaliated via Twitter against critics, including Miranda Lambert, who'd condemned his presence on Sunday night's Grammys. According to sources such as MTV, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, Chris Tweeted, "Hate all you want, because I got a Grammy now. That's the ultimate [expletive] off." His posts have since been deleted.
As we've reported, Miranda Lambert Tweeted, "Chris Brown twice? I don't get it. He beat on a girl." She added, "Not cool that we act like that didn't happen. He needs to listen to 'Gunpowder and Lead' and be put back in his place. Not at the Grammys."
Ozzy's boy, Jack Osbourne, was also among the critics. He Tweeted, "If Chris Brown had worn a wife beater, the irony would eclipse the whole show. #ChrisBrownBeatsWomen."

VALENTINE'S DAY: Celebrating at the Sewage Plant
Touring a sewage plant isn't likely on too many people's list of romantic Valentine's Day activities, but it was for about 100 folks yesterday in Brooklyn, New York.
The city billed the free guided tour of the Newton Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant as an "unforgettable" way to celebrate Valentine's Day. For the occasion, workers at the plant broke out red and pink containers filled with Hersey's chocolate kisses for tour attendees to chow down on while they learned about the inner-workings of the plant.
The plant's superintendent Jim Pynn asking during what he called "the most romantic part of the tour" if anyone was going to propose. There were no takers. Six-year-old Blake Hewitt noted that the area containing the "egg digesters" where waste is processed was "very stinky," but some didn't seem to mind. Eliza Wierzbinska and her boyfriend, Daniel Gunter, said it was fun to do something together a bit out of the box.

VICTORIA'S SECRET MODEL QUITS OVER HER FAITH

A Victoria's Secret Angel has grounded herself.

Kylie Bisutti has left the brand because she believes modeling lingerie goes against her Christian faith.

The 21-year-old tells Fox News, "Victoria's Secret was my absolutely biggest goal in life, and it was all I ever wanted career-wise... But the more I was modeling lingerie -- and lingerie isn't clothing -- I just started becoming more uncomfortable with it because of my faith. I'm Christian, and reading the Bible more, I was becoming more convicted about it."

Kylie is married and said that was also a factor in her decision. "My body should only be for my husband and it's just a sacred thing.

IRAN BANS SIMPSONS TOYS
Simpsons toys and Barbie dolls have been banned in Iran.

The country's Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults didn't give a specific reason for the decision. But the organization's secretary of policymaking did point out that any doll that has distinguishable adult genitals, or any dolls of adults at all, are banned "because these dolls are promoters of Western culture."

When asked to comment on the news, longtime Simpsons executive producer Al Jean told the L.A. Times he had just one thing to say: "This means war!"

Spider-Man and Superman, however, are okay with Iran, because "they help oppressed people and they have a positive stance."

Wow!!! People are Crazy
Careful the next time you're singing Kenny Chesney song at a karaoke bar -- a California man was shot five times by his father last week for doing just that.

According to KRCR TV, William Oller Junior doesn't remember what song he was singing, but his father heard it, didn't approve and became violent. But Junior has no hard feelings. He says, "The last thing I want to see is my dad in trouble or prison for something that truly I believe he didn't know he was doing."

William Oller Senior, who has been arrested, was recovering from two strokes when the incident occurred.

TOBY KEITH: Wins Case in Father's Fatal Accident

Toby Keith's mother and his siblings will receive a $2.8 million judgment against a bus company responsible for the accident that caused the death of his father, H.K. Covel.

An appeals court had overturned the judgment, but Oklahoma's state Supreme Court has reinstated it.

In 2001, Mr. Covel's truck was bumped in the rear, sending him across a median and into the path of the bus, which experts concluded had faulty brakes. --

Bacon: The other White Meat

A Maryland man was arrested last week after attempting to make the other white meat even whiter -- by dousing dozens of packages of supermarket pork with bleach.

John Waskey, a former employee of the Food Lion market, calmly walked in, grabbed a bottle of bleach from a shelf and began pouring it over the meat case. He ultimately ruined more than 90 pre-packed chops, roasts and ribs -- causing $700 in damage.

Waskey was charged with theft and malicious destruction of property. He gave no reason for his rampage.
