SPORTS MASCOT: A Dangerous Job!

Being a mascot for a team can be just as dangerous as playing the game!

The Cleveland Cavaliers mascot Moondog had to go to the hospital Wednesday night after Indiana Pacers player David West punched him in the eye.

West and Moondog were exchanging some playful punches before the game and apparently one caught him hard enough to do damage.

West told the press after the game, "He jumped at me so I thought we were playing around and then the next thing I know he went down. It was definitely an accident."

CHARLES MANSON: Denied Parole, Will Likely Die in Prison
Charles Manson lost his latest and probably his last bid for parole yesterday, which means the 77-year-old killer will likely die behind bars.

Manson, who now sports long gray hair and a beard, is next eligible for parole in 15 years. Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Patrick Sequeira told CNN, "When you think a person will be 92 years old, it's very likely that there will be no further parole hearings for Mr. Manson."

John Peck, a member of the parole panel, quoted statements Manson made to prison psychologists that likely influenced the parole board's decision. "'I'm special. I'm not like the average inmate,'" Peck said, quoting Manson. "'I have spent my life in prison. I have put five people in the grave. I am a very dangerous man.'"
Manson was originally sentenced to death for murders of several people, including actress Sharon Tate, the pregnant wife of director Roman Polanski. When the California Supreme Court found the state's death penalty unconstitutional, his sentence was changed in 1977 to life in prison with the possibility of parole.

CASTRO CONTROVERSY: Marlins Manager Suspended Over Comments
Ozzie Guillen, the manager of baseball's Miami Marlins, was suspended yesterday for five games by the ballclub for praising Cuban leader Fidel Castro in a magazine interview.
Guillen, who is known for his loose lips, apologized for a second time in a press conference yesterday.
In the interview with TIME magazine's online edition, the Venezuelan-born Guillen said, "I love Fidel Castro. You know why? A lot of people have wanted to kill Fidel Castro for the last 60 years but that mother--- is still here."
The comments didn't sit well with Miami's large population of Cuban exiles, especially in the Little Havana neighborhood that is home to the Marlin's new ballpark.

AMANDA BYNES BUSTED FOR DUI

Amanda Bynes was arrested in West Hollywood early Friday morning after sideswiping a police cruiser. The actress, who celebrated her 26th birthday earlier in the week, was charged with DUI and released on $5,000 bail later that day. TMZ, which got ahold of her mugshot and shared it with the world, also came up with her previous driving-related run-ins with the law.

If you're not familiar with her work, Bynes starred on TV in The Amanda Show and What I Like About You and appeared in the films What a Girl Wants, Hairspray and Easy A, the 2010 release which is her most recent credit listed on IMDB.

AMERICA'S SMALLEST TOWN: Sold for $900,000

The smallest town in the United States was sold yesterday (Thursday) to two businessmen from Vietnam for $900,000 in an auction.
The town of Buford, Wyoming has a population of one and consists of just a gas station and convenience store, a three-bedroom house and a few small buildings. Its 10 acres of land run along interstate 80.
About 12 interested parties turned out for the auction, which began at $100,000, but quickly rose from there. The winning bidders were taken away by auction officials, who shielded them from reporters, but the town's only current resident Don Sammons has never shied away from the media. He's lived there since 1980, back when the town's population was three, but since then, his wife died and his son moved away. He's owned the town since 1990 and found the auction bittersweet, wiping back tears, saying, "I don't know when it will hit me. I've lived here half my life. I'm an emotional person, and I hope I handle it an adult manner."
He plans to move to Windsor, Colorado to be closer to his son

KEVIN BACON, KYRA SEDGWICK KISSING COUSINS?

OK, this is creepy! Turns out Kevin Bacon and wife Kyra Sedgwick are distant cousins.
The couple, who've been married for 23 years, found out their connection after appearing on the PBS series Finding Your Roots. On the show, host Henry Louis Gates Junior uses DNA technology to trace the genealogy of famous people. "They are indeed distant cousins," Gates says. "So talk about six degrees of separation, right?"
Kevin and Kyra have a son, Travis, 22, and a daughter, Sosie, 19.

TIM TEBOW GETS A SANDWICH

Before Tim Tebow takes a bite out of the Big Apple, the Big Apple will get to take a bite out of him.
New York City's famed Carnegie Deli has created a sandwich in honor of the Jets' new quarterback. The four-pound Jet Bow consists of pastrami, corned beef, roast beef and American cheese piled high on white bread. It costs $22.22.

They Don't Build Them Like They Use To!!

93-year-old Rachel Veitch, whose motoring days began nearly half a century ago with her $3,289 purchase of a brand new 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente, is finally giving up the car because she has swerved into an impassable roadblock: "I am legally blind, so I can no longer drive my lovely Chariot,"

A stickler for keeping the car in mint-running condition, the Orlando, Fla., woman drove the car 576,000 miles, enough distance to circle the globe 21 times. All it took was 18 batteries, eight mufflers, three sets of shocks, and oil changes too numerous to count.
