It was the first day of spring, the sun was shining as I drove into work singing along with the radio, winter in my rear view mirror…life was good. Then it happened…I saw the sign. ‘Left lane closed ahead’ has become the new anthem for spring…as the weather warms up, the orange barrels start to show up along city streets and the interstate as far as the eyes can see. When you Google ‘Illinois State Flower’ you get a pretty picture of the Common Blue Violet, but in reality I believe the Illinois state flower should be the bright orange construction barrel. They are everywhere….EVERY. WHERE.
Prepare for slow downs, and keep an eye out for the men and women working in the construction zones…they are not only trying to stay safe while taking care of our roads, but they are also putting up the pretty orange barrels that we will see until the snow flies again. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh….spring time in central Illinois!
