The way I see it, you have two choices on Valentine’s Day: either complain that it’s an over-commercialized holiday that puts too much pressure on men to impress their wives/girlfriends, or make the most of it by taking advantage of an opportunity to show someone how much you love them in your own special–inexpensive–way. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to be in a relationship to enjoy Valentine’s Day. For years, I looked forward to February 14th for the simple fact that it was an excuse to eat chocolate I could never justify splurging on any other day of the year…and my dad always got me flowers.
That said, if you are in a relationship with someone you deeply care about, and you want to make tonight more than just another night, I think you and I can both agree it won’t be complete without the perfect playlist. So in case you’re falling behind in that department, here’s a list of some of my favorite country love songs to inspire your Valentine’s Day soundtrack:
- Making Memories of Us – Keith Urban
- Carried Away – George Strait
- Hands On You – Ashley Monroe
- I Melt – Rascal Flatts
- Like a Wrecking Ball – Eric Church
- Me and You – Kenny Chesney
- I Won’t Leave You Lonely – Shania Twain
- Nothin’ On You – Cody Johnson
- When You Say Nothing At All – Keith Whitley
- Only You Can Love Me This Way – Keith Urban
- I Cross My Heart – George Strait
- Come a Little Closer – Dierks Bentley
- I Could Not Ask for More – Sara Evans
- When You Kiss Me – Shania Twain
- We Danced – Brad Paisley
