1.A Thousand Horses – Smoke I know this song was a hit and was pretty big but I have yet to find anyone that doesn’t love this song. Yet, where are they now?
2. Thomas Rhett – Learned it from the Radio – I asked Thomas Rhett about this song once and why he didn’t release it as a single. He said it was more of a love letter to country radio that is meant to be private. Great answer but this song is impossible to find outside of the Tangled Up album. Here is a live version of it.
3. Dustin Lynch – I’d Be Jealous too It blows my mind that this song was never a hit. I asked Dustin Lynch about it when it was first released and he said some had concerns that it took too long to get to the hook but, I have always thought the payoff is worth it.
4. Drake White – Making Me Look Good Again THIS song….oh my THIS song! You can’t listen to Makin Me Look Good Again just once. This is a song that should be in everyone’s date night playlist.
5. Jake Owen – What We Ain’t Got I know this song did pretty well for Jake but, just like A Thousand Horses this song should have been bigger. It pulls at your heart strings and puts you right into that emotional place where you are pining for what you lost but, if you watch the video all the way through… You’ll realize that we have it pretty good. and you’ll need some Kleenex. I can’t listen to this song without tearing up.
6. Florida Georgia Line – Smoke This song speaks to me on a much deeper level. I feel like this was my summer senior year in high school. I don’t talk much about my relationship with FGL because, I loved them…the first two albums were amazing! The concerts, the energy, it was the soundtrack to dating my wife. Then we met them….not once but twice and each time they are a bit aloof and standoff ish. Example: I asked BK about this song and said it was amazing and would really do will if they released it. He simply said “can’t release them all” and pointed to the camera to get the picture taken. Even bigger stars like Jason Aldean will chat about songs and business but these two…well. My love for them isn’t what it was. But this song will always be amazing!
7. Kelsea Ballerini – XO This was a deep cut on her first album “For the First Time”. I love this song, which Kelsea thinks is odd. Every time we talk about “XO” or “Sirens” she says they are such female driven songs and is surprised when guys related to them as much as we do. Hey Kels, guys have been in this situation too.
8. Sam Hunt – Raised on It THIS is what a summer song is supposed to sound like. Tell me this doesn’t make you reminisce about those high school parties.
9. Thomas Rhett – When you Look Like That Finally, a song that I understand why it wasn’t released. With some of the lyrics in this song, people would have taken them out of context and made the song creepy and rapey. I play this song for my wife when we go out on date nights. Cause damn girl, we can’t just go home when you look like that.
10. Ryan Follese – Put A Label On It This song was released a couple of times. It just never went anywhere. I think this is a great song about that ackward moment and conversation when as an adult you are asking someone to be your “Girlfriend/Boyfriend”.
