It is certainly a truth that low-income families rely on school for their children; that’s where the kids are guaranteed a hot lunch (and sometimes breakfast). With schools being closed for two weeks, there is a growing concern for those families – how will they be able to feed their family?
Unit 5 schools is offering cold breakfast and sack lunch “Grab and Go” meals will be made available to students In need Tuesday, March 17 through Friday, March 20, and Monday, March 30 at five centralized sites (meals will NOT be available during our planned Spring Break, the week of March 23). A child does not need to be present to pick them up, but you must provide a students name, grade, and school.

District 87 is offering opportunities for families to pick up meals. Bagged meals can be picked up via a drive-thru setup at Sheridan Elementary School and at Bloomington High School for any District 87 student.
Wednesday March 18 ,12-2 pm, One lunch per child
Thursday March 19, 11am – 1 pm, One breakfast and lunch per child OR one bulk package of food containing 4 meals per child
Friday March 20, 11am – 1pm, One breakfast and lunch per child, and any leftover meals
Meals will not be provided during spring break.
